Alejandro Almanza Pereda studio visit. Precarious installation work…

Alejandro Almanza Pereda is a fantastic Méxican artist. The precarious nature of his installation work inspires feelings of unease, and his illustrations explore concepts of physicality. We published some of his illustrations recently in VGLAZ magazine. The last two days we visited him in Mexico city at his studio, and last night at one of the great concerts Los Pellejos have been doing at the Kurimanzutto warehouse as a prelude to their appearance during Miami Basel. With several projects on the horizon, we are excited about his involvement in exhibitions with us in 2011. Check out his website:

Cristina Faesler, director of Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico, talks to Fundación Magnolia

Cristina Faesler invited us for coffee. She has been Director of the Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico (Museum of Mexico City) for some years now, while also celebrating many cultural endeavours independently. The books that she was kind enough to give for our collection were testament to that! Enthusiastic about our residence program, we agreed to explore the possibility for a collaboration between the museum and Fundación Magnolia for foreign artists visiting Mexico with us. They could exhibit the artwork they create, and provide a great way to see how a nation and a city can influence the people who visit it. We hope to start receiving artists to the residence in the new year.
